Psyllium
More than half of all the psyllium that departs from India
each year heads to the U.S. for use in leading laxative
brands and food products. Long-recognized as a superb and
benign laxative, its high soluble fiber content has attracted
considerable interest and commercial application outside
of its traditional position as a natural laxative. There
are more than 100 products containing psyllium appearing
in American pharmacies, supermarkets, and health food stores.
Psyllium has been thoroughly investigated as a soluble
fiber, and, in early 1998, the FDA granted manufacturers
the right to claim that psyllium consumption promotes lower
cholesterol levels as part of a balanced program of diet
and exercise.
FenuPure™
FenuPure™ is a highly concentrated, deodorized fenugreek
extract (a galactomannan) that is an excellent source of
dietary fiber (soluble and insoluble) for cereals, cookies,
muffins, breads, nutritional bars, yogurts, and other dairy
products. Ancient Egyptians first recognized the merits
of Fenugreek, one of the oldest known medicinal plants.
Today, modern researchers as well, have demonstrate that
Fenugreek’s unique fiber content and composition are especially
potent for helping to diminish post-prandial glucose levels,
serum cholesterol and fat absorption thus enhancing one’s
potential longevity.
