Description

Rhodiola rosea

Rhodiola rosea or Golden Root is a plant indigenous to the high polar regions of Eastern Siberia, at elevations above 2000ft.  It is a state-protected plant approved by the Russian Pharmacopeia.  Siberians use Rhodiola rosea as a whole-body approach to maintaining health and wellness.  It is especially valued for its regenerative, UV-protection, anti-stress, antioxidant, and anti-fatigue properties.  Rhodiola extracts in cosmeceuticals have a variety of benefits for skin.

Rhodiola extract increases collagen synthesis and skin cell proliferation.  It increases hydroxyproline and hexosamine levels, which are molecular components necessary to make collagen and elastin.

Rhodiola rosea is a source of important antioxidant compounds, including  Cinnamyl alcohol glycosides, Flavonoids, and 3,4 Hydroxycinnamic acid.  It is highly effective in retarding the signs of photoaging and protecting the skin from UV damage.

Only the authentic Siberian Rhodiola rosea contains the complex of cinnamyl alcohol glycosides: rosavin, rosin and rosarin (the rosavins), monoterpenes rosiridin and rosiridol (the rosiridins) and salidroside all together.  True Siberian Rhodiola rosea root extract must contain rosavins, rosiridin and salidroside in ratios approximately 3:1:1 that reflect the phytochemistry of the natural plant.  Of equal importance, the toxicology on Siberian Rhodiola rosea root extract is also the most complete of the Rhodiola available and its safety has been thoroughly investigated and confirmed.

P.L.Thomas offers Rhodiola rosea Extract from Russian origin with min. 3% Rosavins and 1.% Salidrosides.
