Guaraná (Paullinia Cupana variety Sorbilis) is a climbing shrub that grows in Brazil, in the area of Pará and Amazonas.
Guaraná has a remarkable history and is a true legacy of the Brazilian flora. It also was the sacred tree of the Maués Indians. It gave them nourishment and was known to help treat many of their ailments. A tonic made of the infusion of guaraná seeds was a staple in their diet. They would drink it during their long fishing and hunting trips to maintain energy and prevent fatigue.
The therapeutic properties of guaraná are a result of its natural caffeine content, which acts as a stimulant, affecting blood circulation and the nervous system. It is also known as one of the most effective natural intestinal disinfectants.
Guaraná has been used for centuries as an astringent as well as an effective treatment of infections, diarrhea and fatigue. Guaraná is currently used in dietary supplements and beverage formulations. In Brazil and other countries guaraná beverages are as popular as colas in America. Several beverage companies in the US use guaraná as a natural source of caffeine.
PLT offers guaraná seeds, powder and soft extracts with 12% caffeine content, as well as a dry extract with a caffeine content ranging from 5% to 22%. We provide uniform quality at competitive prices.
