Xanthigen® aids in weight management by promoting a healthy liver
- Xanthigen® is a botanical-compound of brown sea weed extract standardized for fucoxanthin and pomegranate seed oil standardized for punicic acid
- Study subjects using 600mg of Xanthigen® daily lost an average of 6.6 kg (14.2 lbs) over sixteen weeks in a peer-reviewed, published, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical†
- Subjects taking the placebo only lost 1.4 kg (3 lbs) on average despite a restricted calorie diet
- Xanthigen® significantly increased the rest energy expenditure (REE), indicating improved metabolism
- Xanthigen® supplementation resulted in significant body composition improvements as measured by liver fat, body fat, and reduction of total body weight
- Xanthigen® significantly reduced waist circumference compared to placebo, and improved overall health as measured by improved blood lipids, liver enzymes and cardiovascular health.
Liver Health and Body Fat
Many of us do not realize that the liver is the major portal for fat creation and circulation around the body. The liver receives fatty acids from the digestive system and decides whether to send them to other tissues via the bloodstream, or to burn them for energy. Body fat and liver health are inextricably linked together, and excessive fat accumulating within liver cells is undesirable. Gradually the accumulating fat starts to distend the anatomy of liver cells, which can results in cell malfunction and overall impaired liver function. In a healty body, the liver contains less than 5% fat, but in people with excess liver fat this content can be as high as 30%. Up to one-third of the population has a fatty liver, and this proportion jumps to 75% in obese people and 90% in the morbidly obese. Many people are not aware of that their livers may be fatty, and their liver enzymes may be within normal limits – not detected by typical tests. Improved liver health can be measured by a decrease in the liver fat content, normalized enzymatic activity, concomitant with reduction in visceral body fat and total body weight.
